Watch Anderson Cooper channel a ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ star
If the whole TV journalism thing doesn’t work out, we don’t worry about Anderson Cooper.
The veteran newsman could very well have a career on his pal Andy Cohen’s Bravo network.
Cooper showed off some excellent acting skills Thursday night on “Watch What Happens Live.” It all went down during the “Bravologues” segment, when guests re-enact iconic lines from particularly drama-filled shows.
Cooper stepped up to do an impassioned impression of “Real Housewives of Miami” star Adriana de Moura, who made seriously explosive claims during the reunion special last month.
The Brazilian art dealer famously accused ex bestie Julia Lemigova of cheating on her wife Martina Navratilova with a “Haitian mortician.” De Moura told the shocked panel the two snuck away to a motel with champagne, then threw in the random detail that the ex beauty queen gave the guy a coffee machine as a gift.
Cooper did his own impressive take on their heated conversation, with hilarious results.
“I wasn’t going to go there, Julia, because I’m not that person,” began the CNN reporter, with dramatic music playing in the background. “I was never going to destroy your marriage, I was never going to go and destroy your household. But since you brought that up, it’s now out on the table.”
Cooper continues the monologue, completely deadpan, standing in the spotlight:
“She was cheating on Martina with a Haitian mortician,” he tells the snickering audience.
After mentioning the motel room, champagne and coffee maker, Cooper delivers the final flourish to even more laughs.
“Oh, you forget that bit ...b--ch!”
De Moura — who later shared the clip on her Instagram, approving of the impression — had quite the weekend. At BravoCon in Las Vegas, a gathering of all the franchises, she picked up a coveted trophy, winning the “Who Said That?” Award for Colloquial Excellence for the Haitian mortician diatribe.
The award was presented by fellow Miami Housewives OG Alexia Echevarria.
“It’s been a long time coming,” de Moura said in her acceptance speech. “Season 1 of Miami was a long time ago, and I never thought we’d be back, and back with a bang. I mean, no pun intended. Ha! Maybe a little bit.”
As for Lemigova, who watched unamused in the audience, she told UsWeekly that there was indeed a situation with a mortician, but it happened years agof while living in Paris before she was with Navratilova.
The Russian native clarified a few other things about the story, which she said was jumbled with past and present experiences: “I did not give him a coffee maker.”
