Dolphins legend Jason Taylor broke the Internet during the game. Here’s why
For a few seconds during “Monday Night Football,” Hurricanes defensive line coach Jason Taylor broke the Internet for the weirdest reason.
The former Miami Dolphin was watching his old team play the New York Jets from the perch of a suite at Hard Rock Stadium. Taylor’s son Mason, with ex wife Katina Thomas, also happens to be a rookie tight end for the Jets.
The cameras panned to Taylor just as a stunning young woman appeared to quickly move off of his lap. That’s when X, formerly Twitter, erupted with keyboard investigators comparing the scene to the viral kisscam incident at a July Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium, outside Boston.
Quick pop culture refresher: The band’s lead singer Chris Martin wondered aloud whether the Astronomer CEO and his HR head were “shy or having an affair” when they ducked out of sight after getting caught in a romantic clutch. Martin was correct: Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot were indeed married to other people, and subsequently lost their jobs at the AI company.
As for the “Monday Night Football” thing at the Miami Gardens stadium? Sorry, there is zero scandal, and no one is getting fired or filing for divorce.
In fact, the woman hopping away from the frame is Monica Velasco, a former Dolphins cheerleader who has been married to Taylor since August 2020. The sleepwear designer/philanthropist, 31, and Hall of Famer, 51, have a son, Jordan, 4.
If the social media users had watched the clip in full, the mystery would have been solved. You see Velasco sit down next to Taylor and smile, not dive into the bleachers and hide her face like what happened during the so called Coldplay moment.
So there you have it. A big Internet nothingburger.
