All work and (some) play.

After wrapping his record-breaking residency in his home of Puerto Rico — completing a whopping 31 shows — Bad Bunny spent his first weekend off in none other than Miami.

OK, the artist didn’t exactly hit the beach for a margarita. He had some business to attend to. Late Friday night, Bunny checked in on the restaurant he co-owns with David Grutman, Gekko.

Insiders told Miami.com that because the reggaetons star’s appearance was unannounced, diners flipped when they saw him stroll through the door right around midnight.

In one Instagram video taken by a fellow patron, you can see Bunny getting swarmed, and hear women screaming at the top of their lungs.

“At one point, everyone was on their feet in the dining room to catch a glimpse of the icon, who was all smiles and happy to spend time with guests at his restaurant,” an insider tells Miami.com. Eventually, the “Happy Gilmore 2” star made it out to the dance floor, joining a large bachelorette party, who no doubt have selfies to last a lifetime.

Little did anyone there know, just two days later, he’d have major news: Bunny will be the headliner of the 2026 Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., the NFL confirmed on Sunday.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” the 31-year-old born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio said in a statement after the announcement. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture and our history.”

Sports trivia: Bunny actually performed at another Super Bowl. That would be LIV, in Miami, back in 2020 with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

The so-called King of Latin Trap may want to change his name to the Energizer Bunny. Next up, he’ll kick off the Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour, in support of his album of the same name (translation: I Should Have Taken More Photos). It launches Nov. 21 in Santo Domingo and spans across four continents before wrapping July 22, 2026, in Brussels.

Alas, there will no concerts in the United States due to Bunny’s concerns over ICE raids and not wanting to endanger his fans, who can watch him from the comfort of their living rooms. The Super Bowl will be broadcast live on NBC.

So why was Bunny picked for this high profile gig? Some trolls were naturally left confused by the choice as most of the Grammy winner’s songs are in Spanish.

“Bad Bunny represents the global energy and cultural vibrancy that define today’s music scene,” said Jon Barker, senior VP of global event production for the NFL, in a statement. “As one of the most influential and streamed artists in the world, his unique ability to bridge genres, languages and audiences makes him an exciting and natural choice to take the Super Bowl halftime stage. We know his dynamic performances, creative vision and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”
