Feeling the breeze? Chris Brown sued by someone in Miami — over bikinis
This year marks a major milestone for Chris Brown. The rapper, who dropped his first album 20 years ago, is in the midst of his Breezy Bowl XX World Tour.
The North American leg kicked off at Miami’s loanDepot Park July 30 — but not everyone was cheering Brown on from the sidelines.
Namely Kris Izquierdo, who owns Miami fashion label Breezy Smimwear. The Kendall man, 30, is suing the “Don’t Wake Me Up” singer, whom fans have been calling Breezy since way back, for trademark infringement. Among the others named in the suit filed in the Southern District of Florida is tour partner Live Nation Entertainment.
The complaint alleges that the defendants’ use of the terms “Breezy” and “Breezy Bowl,” as well as Brown’s clothing line, e.g., “Team Breezy Playmaker” bikinis, were not only way similar to Izquierdo’s brand, but confusing to customers and causing harm to his business.
According to court documents, Izquierdo’s company has held the “Breezy” trademark since 2018. And in 2023, the “Breezy Bowl” runway show premiered at Miami Swim Week. The inclusive event welcomed models of “every shape, size, age, and experience level.” Last year’s show, in July, was held at LIV nightclub inside the Fontainebleau.
Breezy Swimwear is seeking unknown monetary damages and an injunction to prevent further use of the “Breezy Bowl” name in connection with Brown’s tour and related merchandise.
“Celebrities do not get to overwrite small-business names just because they are famous,” Breezy Swimwear’s attorney, John Hoover, told TMZ Hip Hop earlier this summer.
The next Breezy Bowl fashion show is set for April 19, 2026, at the Mondrian South Beach; all are welcome to sign up and apply to participate.
The label’s slogan? “Every Body is a Bikini Body.”
Don’t look for any kind of comment from Brown at the moment. Or much else for that matter. The R&B entertainer, who performs at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium Sept. 30, deactivated his Instagram account on Wednesday.
“Ima take a break from social media,” the 36-year-old wrote. “Y’all done pi--ed me off long enough.”
The Instagram tantrum had nothing to do with the lawsuit. Fans were trolling Brown since Sunday after he brought influencer Kayla Nicole up on stage for a steamy dance at his L.A. concert.
Travis Kelce’s ex later explained to her followers that she decided to get down with her teenage crush for all the “brown girls.”
Keyboard warriors went after the father of three, who has been accused of only dating light-skinned women.
“Miss me with colorist rage baiting,” Brown wrote, Complex reported.
Then came his digital pause. Sigh.
