William Levy opens up about his arrest —and personal life: ‘They said that?!’
Back to work.
Almost two months after his arrest at a South Florida bar, William Levy is promoting a new project.
The so-called Latin Brad Pitt sat down with Jordi Martín for “El gordo y la flaca,” from Spain, where he is shooting “Under a Volcano.”
In the action/drama, Levy plays a military pilot who lands on an island, promptly falling in love with a scientist just as a volcano is about to erupt.
Asked how he was feeling about something else that erupted, Levy shrugged.
“For me, I feel the same as when it happened,” he said of the unfortunate situation at Baires Grill in Weston. “Normal, calm.”
The “it’ that happened, according to a police report from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office: Cops responded to the steakhouse in Weston, about 45 minutes north of Miami, regarding a problem with a patron around 10 p.m. on April 14.
As per the complaint, Levy, “highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance,” was issued a trespass warning and told not to return to the business.
When the 44-year-old allegedly ignored commands, he was placed into police custody and transported to Broward County Main Jail. Charges included disorderly conduct in a public place and trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance. Bond was set at $500.
After getting sprung, Levy told reporters the reason he disregarded cops and re-entered the steakhouse was to retrieve his cellphone, adding he never got physical with anyone.
According to People en Español, Levy, who was seated with a group, had an issue with how much a round of drinks cost at the upscale eatery.
“When the bill came, I don’t know the exact amount, but it was an exorbitant figure,” the source told the outlet. “He said he wasn’t going to pay.”
The arrest came about a year after police responded to the Southwest Ranches home he once shared with his now estranged coparent Elizabeth Gutierrez. The actress was outside with their teen daughter who wanted something from the house, and things escalated. No arrests were made.
Martín inquired about Gutierrez, wanting Levy to address a rumor that they were back together.
“That’s absurd,” the telenovela star scoffed, adding he doesn’t let gossipers get inside his head.
“The things they say about me don’t bring me down,” he said. “I prefer to keep my energy positive.”
When Martín asked about another rumor he was getting help for anger management, Levy looked taken aback.
“They said that?1 Seriously?” he said, laughing. “I’m very calm. If I had all the time in the world to respond to all the haters....”
The focus is now on family and his career.
“I am a fortunate person in every way. I’m at a very good stage in my life.”
The only thing lacking is a girlfriend, he told the journalist.
“Introduce me to someone!”
