An old TV clip of Barron Trump as a toddler goes viral: ‘You wanna have drums?’
Before he became a meme dramatically greeting the crowd at his father’s inauguration, Barron Trump was stealing the show at an early age.
A few months back, a clip from a 2010 interview Donald Trump did with CNN legend Larry King emerged with Barron playing in his office. The little boy, getting ready for school, jumps around with a briefcase, shouting, “I like my suitcase!”
Now, another throwback video making fresh rounds shows Barron as a toddler with his mother telling her what he wants for his birthday.
The viral clip, originally released by “Entertainment Tonight,” was shot at a Memorial Sloane-Kettering Cancer Center charity event at FAO Schwarz in NYC on March 3, 2009, a little over two weeks from his third birthday.
“You wanna have drums?’ she asks her son on the red carpet set up at the massive toy store. “What you will have for your birthday?”
“No, I would like to have [the] television, drums,” the boy says in a slight Slovenian accent, mimicking his mother. He points at something off camera.
“Like on television?” she asks. “The big ones?”
“Yeah,” says the Oxbridge Academy alum, whose request was likely granted.
Another part of the recently re-shared “ET” video shows Barron in what appears to be the family’s gilded triplex penthouse at Trump Tower.
Barron poses on giant stuffed animals, hugs his mother, sits in a mini-car and tries on a chunky gold watch that likely belongs to his father, who is not seen.
Commenters under an X post with the video were a mixed bag. Some folks thought Melania seemed like a nurturing mother, others thought Barron was living the life of a little prince. Still, more were impressed by how well a child so small communicated with cameras around and wondered how he will fare in the future.
“Bro is going to be a force.”
“People are setting a high standard for him. I hope he lives up to the image we’ve created of him.”
“Privileged life but seems like a good, grounded kid.”
