‘This is my element’: Watch Bethenny Frankel go skating at beloved Kendall roller rink
Bethenny Frankel took a walk down memory lane the other day.
Actually, “skate” is a better word. The “Real Housewives of New York City” star, 54, paid a visit to Miami Roller Rink with her teenage daughter Bryn.
In a TikTok video, Frankel — who spent part of her childhood in South Florida and graduated from the Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale — gives her followers a tour of the Kendall landmark.
Most locals may know the 30,000 square foot facility as Super Wheels, and before that, Hot Wheels, which opened in 1986. The beloved venue inside Crystal Plaza was bought last year by local couple Gabe Colon and Pam Mostacero. Though they renamed it, the comfortingly retro decor remains pretty much unchanged.
“I have legitimately entered my childhood,” says Frankel, who admits she “French kissed” a boy in one of the booths while eating a slice of square pizza. “That’s a fact.”
After buying a T-shirt that reads “In My Skating Era,” and changes into it on the fly, Frankel hits the floor to show off some fancy, backward moves.
“This is my element,” says the reality vet, as 1997’s “In a Dream My Love” plays in the background.
Frankel, who these days spends much of her screen time rating beauty products and snacks, gives a review of the place as they exit.
“The rink itself is good,” says the Skinnygirl entrepreneur. “The people were very nice and I had a lovely time.”
Her only beef was with the music, which briefly stops during the skating lessons conducted during the holidays when school is out.
Miami Roller Rink owners told the Miami Herald that on Friday, when the TV star visited, there were a lot of kids taking Skating 101 classes, and they’ll be back to regular programming shortly.
As for the tunes? “We try to balance out a mix of genres and styles for the different generations who are looking for that nostalgic vibe,” said Pam Mostacero.
“We are so flattered she visited,” added Gabe Colon. “We never know who is going to pop up here and that’s really cool.”
