Back in May, Alex Rodriguez’s older daughter Natasha stunned her dad when she popped up unexpectedly at the NBA playoffs in Texas.
Dad returned the favor last week, showing up at Miami International Airport to welcome the University of Michigan sophomore home for the holidays.
In an Instagram video, the ex baller, appearing with younger daughter Ella, 16, explains the secret plan to his followers.
“All right, so I’m about to pick up Tashy,” he says. “We leave in five minutes. She’s coming from Michigan.”
The camera then cuts to Rodriguez hiding behind a barrier near MIA’s taxi stand with a bouquet of flowers. He puts his finger over his mouth as if to say hush to Ella, who is filming.
“Stuff We Did,” the theme song from the 2009 Pixar tearjerker “Up” plays in the background so you know you’re in for it.
Natasha, 20, then appears, nonchalantly strolling by with her wheeler luggage. Dad screams “AAAAHH!” and as she turns around and sees him, bends over as if in shock. The two hug, and if you don’t tear up ever so slightly, you may want to check your pulse.
“Nothing makes me happier than having both my girls home for the holidays,” said the caption.
Most of the commenters wholeheartedly approved, and many were moved by the spontaneous, paternal gesture.
