A big change is coming to one of South Florida’s biggest music festivals. What we know
Big changes are a coming to one of South Florida’s biggest music festivals.
On Wednesday, SunFest organizers shared a few updates, the biggest one being that next year’s date will change.
So mark your calendars and/or change your plane tickets: The massive gathering won’t be on the first weekend of May, when it’s been traditionally held. The venue, along the Intracoastal Waterway in downtown West Palm Beach, also might move as well.
“We have always strived to deliver the best experience possible to our fans,” said the statement. “After much consideration and evaluation, we are exploring new dates for 2025, fresh venues, and formats. Our goal is to preserve all the aspects of SunFest that make it so special, continuing to support our local community while evolving to meet the future.”
Fear not, the beloved event, which turned 40 last year, is not going the way of the rotary phone. SunFest, which attracts roughly 85,000 visitors a year, remains a popular draw that features big name performers covering multiple genres. Think rappers (Ludacris), electronica faves (Diplo), reggaetoneros (Don Omar), country stars (Keith Urban) and ‘80s icons (B-52s).
“Our mission, being a deep-rooted non-profit organization is to continue to give back along with supporting art, local artists, and the live and local music culture,” the post concluded. “We are not saying SunFest is going away; just taking some time to create something new and fresh.”
