Ana de Armas’ love life is under the microscope yet again after she was spotted with a controversial suitor.

That would be Manuel Anido Cuesta, who happens to be the stepson of Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

De Armas and Anido Cuesta more or less confirmed they were dating when paparazzi snapped them earlier this month walking her dog in Madrid, and then grabbing a kiss on the street.

Not everyone is happy for de Armas, who was born in Cuba, but moved to Spain at the age of 18. And they’re letting their feelings known, by reaching out to her directly.

Under an innocuous Instagram post promoting her collab with Louis Vuitton, followers expressed their ire for de Armas “sleeping with the enemy.”

Because Anido Cuesta — whose mother, Lis Cuesta Peraza, is Díaz-Canel’s second wife — is said to be close to his stepfather, and taken on an advisory role in the administration. The lawyer has been on official trips and participated in high profile events such as a meeting with the pope.

In the comment section (which in hindsight she probably regrets not turning off as she had done with other posts), people unleashed in both Spanish and English.

“HOW DOES IT FEELS TO EAT WITH THE MONEY STOLEN FROM CUBA?”

“I think you can’t imagine the severe consequences of supporting a dictatorship... your career is over.”

“You have betrayed your people.”

And this lengthy diatribe from fashion and travel influencer Luis Caballero:

“It’s truly disheartening when someone, particularly a fellow Cuban, aligns themselves with a regime that has brought so much pain and oppression to our people,” said his rant that received more than 1,000 likes. “The Cuban dictatorship, under Miguel Díaz-Canel and its predecessors, has systematically stripped citizens of their basic freedoms, suppressed dissent, and perpetuated economic and social hardships.”

It’s unclear how long the “Knives Out” actress, 36, has been hot and heavy with the 27-year-old lawyer, or if it’s anything serious. Last time we checked, de Armas, who was briefly married to Spanish model Marc Clotet, was still with Tinder VP Paul Boukadakis. And Hollywood watchers can’t forget the headline making romance with “Deep Water” costar Ben Affleck during the COVID lockdowns of 2020.

The “Ballerina” star, who relocated to Vermont to get away from prying eyes, admitted to People en Español last year that she still feel ties to her homeland, and obviously has a lot to talk about with her new beau.

“It’s my home [where] I have all my memories, my childhood, the good things, the not so good things,” de Armas told the magazine. “It’s the formation of my life and my values, of who I am. The connection is very strong.”
