Who should replace Florida Senator Marco Rubio? The internet has the most-Miami idea
Mr. Worldwide goes to Washington?
With president-elect Donald Trump naming Florida senator Marco Rubio as his secretary of state, the Internet has a suggestion for his replacement.
Pitbull!
And why not? The rap star, given name Armando Christian Pérez, meets the three requirements for the job, as per the U.S. Constitution.
The incoming senator must be at least 30 (Pit is 43), have at least nine years of U.S. citizenship and and live in the state he or she represents at time of election. Though his parents are from Cuba, our guy was born in Miami, growing up on the streets of Little Havana.
Bonus: We know Mr. 305 could rep the Sunshine State well, looking out for the little people while definitely dressing the part.
One of the fans who floated the idea of Pitbull for Senator on X with the handle @JonnyMicro included a pic of Pitbull looking dapper in a dark suit and tie.
In the replies, some jokesters had a field day, with most resoundingly on board.
“Honestly it’s a great idea. We need to fix this trend of politicians having weird haircuts.”
“Would that be Sen. Pit or Sen. Bull?”
“The Floor recognizes Mr. 305.”
“His press conferences would be legendary.”
And, naturally someone had to throw in the “Timber” singer’s signature phrase: “Dale!”
Welp, it’s up to Gov. Ron DeSantis now. He will soon have the power to temporarily appoint someone to fill Rubio’s seat. (As per Florida law, DeSantis could even appoint himself, but that’s another story.)
Or perhaps the governor should look to the Internet for ideas. Other suggestions for the high profile post beside Pitbull have included Hulk Hogan, DJ Khaled and — this seems the most natural choice — Flo Rida.
