Surprise! Sorpresa!

Daddy Yankee made an unexpected visit to Ponce De Leon Middle School in Coral Gables on Saturday morning.

The reggaetonero popped in to help distribute food to local families as part of an initiative from Love Has No Limits volunteer organization.

On her Instagram, TV personality Ale Jaramillo posted a few snaps from the event, posing with the “Gasolina” hitmaker, who recently returned from a humanitarian mission in Kenya.

The 48 year old born Ramon Ayala Rodriguez wasn’t kidding when he said he was stepping away from singing. The Latin music star told a stunned crowd at a concert in his native Puerto Rico back in December 2023 that he would be devoting himself to Christianity and focusing on faith-based content. And he’s definitely putting his money where his mouth is.

“When someone of Daddy Yankee’s influence chooses to serve alongside everyday heroes in our community, it reminds us all that true purpose is found in serving others,” said Jedidiah Thurner, Chief Strategy Officer of Love Has No Limits after the event. “Today we witnessed the power of faith in action.”

OK, so the beloved artist isn’t totally out of the game. On Thursday night, he’s set to attend the Latin Grammy Awards at the Kaseya Center in downtown Miami, where his hit 2023 “Bonita” is nominated for Best Urban Song.

Yankee has also other non musical ventures in South Florida: A huge fan of the sport padel, he opened his own club in Fort Lauderdale called 10 By 20 over the summer. He’s also the owner of a pro league called the Orlando Flowrida Goats whose motto is “We Padel, We Flow.”
