You can’t please the Internet all of the time, especially when it comes to sports.

Take David Beckham’s Saturday evening post, for example.

The Inter Miami owner innocently shared a snap of him with two celebrity ballers, Lionel Messi and Tom Brady.

The three guys were celebrating at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale after Miami beat Cincinnati 2-0 to qualify for the MLS playoffs.

Becks’ caption began with “THE GREATEST,” then he added two emojis of goats, short for Greatest of All Time.

Record scratch. Hold up.

While some fans were in concurrence (as of Thursday, the viral snap received 1.3 million likes), more than a few folks thought one individual was missing from the mix.

That would be Cristiano Ronaldo, who’s been in a race with Messi for the GOAT title for eons.

Naturally, the comments section was a jumble of diehard fans of both Messi and Ronaldo debating over who really was the “greatest” soccer player.

“Ronaldo forever,” wrote someone who got the ball, um, rolling

“Why are Ronaldo fans getting triggered under posts where Messi is there?” asked another social media user.

“Same as Messi fans getting triggered in every Ronaldo post,” someone replied.

At least one of Beckham’s 88.3 million followers could appreciate the iconic photo for what it was: Three friends who also happen to be amazing athletes:

“Think this is considered a herd.”

So who really is the GOAT of futbol? Granted, the title isn’t scientific, but based on a player’s career stats, titles and style of play. Still, people love a good debate.

A sports insider told Miami.com that while Ronaldo, 39, is beloved, Messi, 37, “gets the edge” because he won a World Cup.

Another thing that gives Messi an edge, at least probably in Beckham’s eyes? The Argentine came to America to play for Inter Miami.
