Meet ChaCha, Ana Navarro’s ‘emotional support poodle’ that stole the show at the DNC
As any follower of Ana Navarro already knows, she doesn’t go far without ChaCha.
The adorable pooch has made many a trip with her human, who travels back and forth between Miami and New York for her gig on ABC’s “The View.”
Now ChaCha has stepped onto the world stage, making her way to the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night in Chicago..
Navarro was one of a handful of celebrities hosting the convention, which is meant to unite the party and raise support for VP Kamala Harris’ run for the White House.
Though security was extra tight, ChaCha didn’t need credentials, Navarro told Variety, and the furball’s presence was apparently greatly appreciated.
“She came in and immediately took on the role of emotional support poodle for the entire convention,” said the firebrand, 52. “She has a brand new red, white and blue star-spangled collar and leash.”
ChaCha also got spoiled by a few of the high wattage attendees. Among those who petted her: Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and former President Barack Obama.
We are so keeping an eye out for the highlight reel on Instagram because the dog has her own account, with 33.7K followers and counting. She’s now so popular she may even get a cabinet post if Harris makes it in.
“ChaCha is a very politically astute dog,” said Navarro, who is married to GOP strategist Al Cardenas. “ChaCha is going to be chair of dogs for Kamala.”
So why the name? Navarro told Coral Gables magazine back in 2020 that she wanted to at first call her “diva” Zsa Zsa, after the late glamorous actress Zsa Zsa Gabor.
“But my Cuban husband couldn’t get the pronunciation right,” Navarro said, eventually settling on ChaCha, “the best dancer with the worst reputation” from the classic musical “Grease.”
If all goes according to plan, Navarro says, they’ll receive a VIP invite to see “Auntie Kamala” sworn in next January.
“I’ll get ChaCha a little faux fur.”
