Reality TV couple’s divorce takes an uglier turn. Ex reveals ‘highly offensive text’
Call it “War of the Roses,” Bachelorette style.
We didn’t think the Rachel Lindsay-Bryan Abasolo divorce could get much nastier, but the reality stars are really amping things up a notch.
In court papers obtained by In Touch Weekly, the Miami chiropractor accuses his estranged wife of calling him a rude name in the midst of their contentious split.
After a judge recently ordered Lindsay to pay Abasolo $13,257 in temporary spousal support in bimonthly installments, he says she isn’t doing so willingly.
The local doc claims that Lindsay sent him a “highly offensive text” after having to make her first payment that reportedly read, “BofA: Glender Ruth LLC sent you $6,628.50 for Temp Leech Money.”
Abasolo doesn’t understand why the exes just can’t get along.
“From day one, I have been committed to working cooperatively with Rachel and her professionals to amicably resolve this case, but Rachel continues to obstruct the process while spinning false narrative about her ‘cooperation’ to the court,” say the papers. “She continues to instigate confrontation, just as she did prior to my filing for divorce.”
Abasolo filed for divorce in January, citing “irreconcilable differences,” and requested assistance because he had to put his career on hold and relocate to L.A. for the Texan’s gig as an “Extra” correspondent.
“These moves were detrimental to my business,” he griped, “while Rachel’s income and success as a media personality skyrocketed.”
Due to his precarious financial circumstances, the exes, who found love during season 13 of the ABC dating show back in 2017, were forced to cohabit under the same roof.
“Our current living situation is very awkward and strained,” alleged Abasolo. “We generally do not even talk to each other and try to avoid each other.”
Lindsay, 39, initially proposed $10,000 a month just to get her ex, whom she claims barely pays any expenses, to vacate the premises. After the Colombian native asked for $6K more, the judge ended up with a number somewhere in between.
The 44-year-old fitness fanatic, who finally moved out late last month, now wants help with his legal bills.
“For six months, my attorneys have been asking Rachel for a reasonable contribution to my attorney’s fees and costs so that I can level the playing field,” Abasolo complained. “But she abjectly refuses.”
Hopefully, things will get resolved sooner rather than later.
Earlier this summer, Lindsay told fellow Bachelor Nation alum Natasha Parker on her “Hidden Gems” podcast she was more than ready to move on.
“I’m doing what’s best for me, and that’s a happy ending,” said the onetime lawyer, who added she regretted not getting a prenup. “Right now, as I’m going through it, no it’s not happy, it’s messy — unnecessarily messy.
“But when I get through it, I’m going to have to rebuild, I’m going to have to restructure. But it’s a happy ending, because it’s what I want.”
