Was that JLo? People thought they spotted the superstar at a swim week show in Miami
Was that Ms. Jennifer Lopez in the 305?
The entertainer just canceled her entire summer tour on Friday, so imagine folks’ surprise when a video of her strutting at Miami Swim Week popped up on local lifestyle page Only in Dade.
Someone in the audience at the Arts Hearts Fashion show at M2 nightclub Sunday night took video of a woman greatly resembling JLo entering the stage.
Adding to the confusion was this individual was channeling JLo from Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens in February 2020.
The model’s epic outfit was similar to the first one Lopez wore to rock the halftime show — a bejeweled top, leather bottoms, and long, cape-like skirt.
Surrounded by an entourage, the woman, with full-on hair extensions, also oozed the Bronx native’s sassy brand of confidence.
But if you look closely at the face, that’s where the illusion fades.
Nope, not her.
A few people in the OID comments section were fooled, though.
“Lmao, cancels her tour and goes to Miami anyway.”
“No one loves JLo more than JLo.”
But other social media users, many of whom have been likely watching Lopez since her Selena days, weren’t buying it (“That’s not JLo, that’s JNo”).
So who was this person? Scroll under the post, and the mystery is solved: JLo impersonator Connie Peña wrote that she was appreciative of the content, but asked to be tagged.
Pivot over to Peña’s Instagram page, with 288,000 followers, and you can actually see a clip of her working the For the Stars fashion show at M2 and walking with the designer Jacob Meir.
The reason Peña looks so much like the 54 year old “Atlas” star? Thank good genes and a keen ability to mimic. The California native, who impersonates JLo for a living, is such a dead ringer for her that she often has to walk around with a bodyguard.
The two women actually met a few years back, Peña told her followers, calling Lopez “a legend, my icon and the woman that has motivated me and impacted my life in so many ways!”
Lopez apparently acknowledged the resemblance, Peña added in her post with their snap together.
“Hearing her tell me that ‘WE LOOK ALIKE,’ made my heart drop with joy!”
