When Leo Messi met Ed Sheeran: See soccer star pose with soul rocker backstage
We know a few things about Leo Messi. He likes soccer, pizza and ... Ed Sheeran.
On Sunday night, Messi and his family were seen at the “Photograph” singer’s concert at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
We were told the famous Argentine brood was safely ensconced in a private suite, enjoying lots of dishes (for both kids and adults) that Messi, as brand ambassador, helped create with the hotel.
Following the show, a stop on Sheeran’s “Mathematics” tour, everyone went backstage to meet the singer, who is actually a huge futbol fan.
In 2021, the soul rocker collaborated with English soccer club Ipswich Town, whose shirt (aka kit) features a graphic from the cover of his “Equals” album.
So what did the famous men discuss? That’s unclear. But we do know Sheeran speaks about as much Spanish as Messi does English. Which is to say not much.
But the 32-year-old pop star did learn a few phrases for last year’s J Balvin collab, “Sigue” (Follow), calling his bilingual performance “a proper challenge.”
Whatever language, they all apparently had a blast. Messi posted a picture on his Instagram, all smiles, and the post received more than 15 million likes.
Some commenters were surprised by the snap (e.g., someone wrote, “A bit random”) because Messi doesn’t post often, but we’ll take it.
