Irina Shayk wore a thong to F1 in Miami. Then the Internet gave her fashion advice
Memo to Irina Shayk: We do cover up occasionally in Miami.
The supermodel faced backlash for the outfit (or lack of one) that she “wore” to Formula One at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Saturday.
On Shayk’s Instagram page, the single mom who shares a daughter with ex Bradley Cooper, posted pictures of her touring the track, aka the Miami International Autodrome.
As for the Formula One, there was no dress code, per se. But we will admit the 37 year old looked more dressed for a day of chillaxing at The Setai, than watching a sporting event which involves heavy machinery zooming by at 200 mph plus.
The sexy, flimsy getup was fine for a day at the beach and even a night out at LIV: a see through black maxidress exposing a black thong paired with a white crop top T shirt.
We really are accepting of the nearly naked thing thanks to the fact that it’s summer here about 11 months a year. Even Kim Kardashian wore a bra to dinner once and no one batted an eyelash.
But it seems Formula One is sacred, and keyboard warriors had their opinions.
“You are stunning but don’t call this fashion or classy or trendy, please.”
“I don’t understand…what is happening to our fashion? The class and elegance?
“Not the right outfit for a race.”
Some commenters at least came to Shayk’s defense, one calling out a hater as envious: “She IS and looks beautiful and you are nobody to give an opinion.”
So there. That settles it. We can all agree, the Internet is entitled to its opinions.
Also in Shayk’s defense, it must be noted she was accompanied by Burberry designer Riccardo Tisci, and if he let her walk around like that, who are we to judge?
Also on the trip to the track: Fellow model Stella Maxwell, who was donning similarly impractical garb, but did not face such extensive troll rage for one possible reason: She did not have a baby with Bradley Cooper.
