Andrew Garfield wants to do a duet of ‘Miami’ with Will Smith. The rapper responds
This is one duet we really, really want to see.
After Andrew Garfield revealed to Variety that one of his go-to karaoke songs was “(Welcome to) Miami,” the “Spider-Man” star went one step further.
Garfield said on the outlet’s podcast that he would be down to perform the 1998 classic by fellow Oscar nominee Will Smith at the Academy Awards March 27.
Both actors are nominated (Garfield for “Tick, Tick…Boom,” and Smith for “King Richard”).
Garfield is 100 percent in and knows the lyrics to the upbeat ditty by heart. He just needs a little time in the studio.
“In the month or so I’d have to prep, I think I could get there to be confident enough to take a swing at something,” he said. “Maybe that’s the opening number.”
If this collab comes together, we definitely won’t miss the telecast, even though the ceremony is being held at L.A.’s Dolby Theatre and not the Arsht Center.
We can hear these two in unison now: “Party in the city where the heat is on. All night, on the beach till the break of dawn. Welcome to Miami, Bienvenidos a Miami!”
So what does Smith think about resurrecting his hit from the classic album “Big Willy Style” with Spidey?
“I think I might do that! I would consider that,” the “Bad Boys” star said at pre-Oscar event Wednesday. “That sounds like fun.”
