Slide aside, South Beach. Fort Lauderdale is sexy, too.

That’s what the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau wants people to know about their great, seaside city.

A newly unveiled campaign, already seen in such publications as the New York Times, called Thrill Seekers is on the, um, rather racy side.

One image features a couple lounging on the deck of a phallic looking speedboat.

Another sees a woman surrounded by two men at the rooftop pool at The Dalmar, a sultry night sky behind them. It appears a rendezvous among the three is in the offing.

“If you like the beach as much as you like nightlife, then get ready for the time of your life,” says the text over screen.

On Sunday night, an Instagram story showed a video of the same three people, looking hot and heavy. The Story expired after 24 hours and was not removed for its PG13 content as was previously reported, according to a spokesperson for Visit Lauderdale, adding “the ads are open to interpretation.”

When forming the provocative, edgy $800,000 campaign, the agency focused on the niche market of luxury travelers who didn’t flock to Fort Lauderdale for, say, spring break.

“The campaign is strikingly different from all of our previous ads, and the fact that we have so much buzz around these new visuals speaks volumes to the evolution of our destination,” says Visit Lauderdale CEO Stacy Ritter. “We have always been known for our beaches and everyone expects the beach in our ads, but there are so many experiences beyond that. We don’t need to only show our daytime beach scenes, which is typical of beach destinations. We have a dynamic and thriving nightlife scene, too.”
