Trey Songz is accused of sexual assault in Miami again. Same victim wants $20 million
Round 2.
Trey Songz is being re-sued by the same woman who accused him of sexual assault in Miami back in 2020.
The new civil lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court on Monday now names the Georgia woman, Jauhara Jeffries, according to court documents reviewed by The Miami Herald.
Jeffries, who initially filed anonymously, is suing for $20 million in damages.
The victim’s lawyer Ariel Mitchell told The Daily Beast, “She doesn’t want to hide behind the Jane Doe, she doesn’t want to be ashamed of what happened to her.”
Just as the in the first lawsuit, which was recently dismissed “without prejudice because of a technical error,” Jeffries accuses the rapper of assaulting her in the early hours of New Year’s Day, 2018.
Monday’s refiled suit also names Sean “Diddy” Combs and the 24/7 downtown ultraclub E11EVEN as defendants, according to court papers reviewed by The Miami Herald.
Jeffries alleges that she met Songz (real name: Tremaine Aldon Neverson) outside a New Year’s Eve party at Diddy’s Star Island mansion. The woman said the “Heart Attack” singer invited her and her friends them to ride with him to the club, where they sat together at a VIP table.
At some point, Jeffries began to dance on a couch wearing a “dress with a high slit up the back,” and alleges that Songz violated her with his fingers.
“Plaintiff immediately got off of the couch, sat down, and was in a state of shock,” the lawsuit states.
Later, Jeffries and her friends left the club with Songz, who took his shirt off in the car in the back seat with Jeffries next to him in the middle seat. “[Fearing] more assault, plaintiff began recording defendant Songz for her own safety,” says the document.
Jeffries then says that Songz tried to grab her phone, but the “plaintiff thwarted his efforts.” The music star allegedly forced her “violently” out of the car and “threw her onto the street,” where she suffered scrapes to her legs.
The Miami Herald reached out to E11EVEN, whose spokesperson provided this statement: “We have reviewed the complaint with our counsel and it is clear that neither E11EVEN nor its employees were involved in the incident which is alleged to have happened approximately four years ago. It is our intention to seek to be dismissed from the complaint promptly. E11EVEN does not condone the actions alleged in any manner.”
This isn’t Songz’ only legal issue at the moment. The 37-year-old artist is still being investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in connection with a November sexual assault incident at The Cosmopolitan Hotel on the Strip, reports the Las Vegas Review Journal. Songz has denied all his claims.
