What is that boxy, cool, ultra modern building you ask to yourself while driving up and down on U.S. 1 in Coral Gables.

Now you have your answer: Artefacto, the family owned, 45-year-old Brazilian furnishings company beloved by celebrities and mere mortals alike, is opening Friday. All 40,000-square-foot feet of it.

The showroom is a beauty. Long after you’ve browsed or made your purchase, you may want to stay a while. The serene, lushly appointed showroom is certainly inviting, with a front lounge whose Instagrammable backdrop is giant, undulating digital waterfall on the wall.

Another oasis to rest your weary, teched-out brain or check your Waze app for US1 traffic is a stop by a rectangular fireplace surrounded by plush meet sleek chairs.

This eye candy has serious cred: The building is by Miami Beach based DOMO Architecture + Design (11 Star Island) and interiors by Sao Paolo’s Patricia Anastassiadis, who was recently named Designer of the Year by Casa Vogue. The project was also built by Miami-based ORIGIN Construction.

“Our new flagship is a truly unique and immersive experience that simply cannot be replicated in any other location in the world,” says owner Paulo Bacchi. “I’m extremely proud to share this moment with my father and sons, and we look forward to seeing our clients experience the magic as they create their dream homes.”
