Red Hot Chili Peppers are bringing their stadium tour to Miami. Here’s how to get tickets
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are headlining the 2022 Global Stadium Tour with guests The Strokes, A$AP Rocky, Beck, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, HAIM, St. Vincent, Thundercat and King Princess and a version of this package is hitting Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium.
This has us flashing back to the 1992 Lollapalooza when the Peppers headlined at Miami’s Bicentennial Park on Aug. 22, 1992 — less than two days before Hurricane Andrew’s arrival — with then au courant support acts Ministry, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam and Lush.
The only difference is the coming RHCP tour lacks a sexy name like Lollapalooza, COVID is the crisis rather than a hurricane (though South Florida’s date is Aug. 30) and no one is getting all of those current support acts all at once.
What Miami can expect
According to Live Nation, the tour’s producer, the 2022 tour marks the return of guitarist John Frusciante to the Pepper’s lineup and is the funky band’s first stadium tour in the U.S.
Expect to hear some of the hits you might have heard nearly 30 years ago in Miami such as “Under the Bridge” and “Give It Away” as well as new music from what will be the group’s 12th studio album. That album will be the group’s first with Frusciante since “Stadium Arcadium” in 2006.
For the Miami Gardens date at Hard Rock Stadium on Aug. 30 — and a September stadium date in Orlando — the Peppers top the bill over The Strokes and Thundercat.
If you want to mellow out with Beck on the bill you’ll have to consider the California dates in July. HAIM’s going to be on the North American tour opening date in Denver on July 23 and Anderson.Paak & the Free Nationals are booked to play a couple of the earlier European dates.
When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15 at RedHotChiliPeppers.com or Ticketmaster and seat levels and price tiers will be available at that time.
A fan presale begins Oct. 9 and Oct. 8 for American Express cardholders for the North American dates, including Miami Gardens’, but presales don’t guarantee best seats, just so you know.
Tour dates
The 32-city global stadium 2022 tour kicks off on June 4th at Estadio La Cartuja in Seville, Spain, and stops include London, Paris and Dublin.
The North American dates include two stops in Florida: the Hard Rock Stadium date in Miami Gardens on Aug. 30 and Orlando’s Camping World Stadium on Sept. 15.
