‘A real kick in the gut’: The Rock talks his family’s brutal battle with coronavirus
There aren’t many people stronger than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
But COVID-19 caught up with the former pro wrestler anyway.
The action star, who has a home in South Florida, told his fans Wednesday that not only he was sidelined by the virus, but his entire family was about three weeks ago.
During a lengthy Instagram video, The Rock, 48, said all of them having coronavirus was “one of the most challenging and difficult things we’ve ever had to endure.”
Johnson and his 35-year-old wife, Lauren Hashian, had a “rough go” with the illness. Their two daughters Jasmine, 4, and Tiana, 2, contracted the virus but had lesser symptoms and have fully recovered.
Johnson, though being very cautious throughout quarantine, says the fam caught COVID from close friends. He did not specify how they came into contact or where, but seems to imply they all got together at someone’s home.
Still sounding nasal and a little raspy, the “Hercules” star said that receiving the positive diagnosis was “a real kick in the gut.”
Coronavirus is a “relentless and unforgiving” disease, he says, adding he couldn’t stress enough how serious it is.
“I’ve gone through some doozies in the past... but testing positive for COVID-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries, or being evicted, or even being broke, which I have been more than a few times.”
The Hawaii native ended the post with advice to how to take care of ourselves and not contract this thing.
“Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family. Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings. Stay healthy, my friends.”
