Karol G seemed to be doing everything right.

At the start of the pandemic, the Colombian singer went into lockdown with her reggaetonero fiancé Anuel AA in Miami, but coronavirus caught up with her anyway.

Karol G announced on Instagram Live Monday that she had tested positive for COVID-19, but Anuel did not.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Karol has told people in her circle that she has no idea how she contracted the highly contagious virus, since she’s been very careful.

The Latin artist told fans that she found out a few weeks ago but did not go public for a few reasons, one of which was she didn’t want to worry her parents back home.

Another reason was she has a single coming out, “Ay Dios Mio,” and coronavirus isn’t great for business.

“I didn’t want any of the headlines to be about me having the virus,” she said in the clip.

Since right after her positive results, the 29-year-old has been in self-isolation, she said.

It’s amazing that Anuel did not get sick: Back in April, he and Karol recorded the track “Follow” and shot an adorable video in their waterside crib. The video is full of them doing cute, quarantine-y couple things like wearing Lilo & Stitch onesies, playing Jenga and indulging in a bubble bath.

“While at home under quarantine, we couldn’t stop making music,” said Karol in a release for her label Universal Musica. “We wanted to create a song that was cool and fresh for our fans with a video that shows how we are overcoming the reality that we are all going through. We are thinking of all of our fans out there and hope you’re staying safe and healthy during this time.”

Her message to her fans and followers is to not make light of the virus, which is rampant in South Florida, as new cases pop up every day.

“Please take care of yourself. COVID-19 is real. I didn’t want to make this news public, but I’m doing well,” she said in the post.
