Ben Affleck just spoke perfect Spanish in Miami and now your single tía wants an intro
Se habla español.
Ben Affleck speaks the lingo.
The actor was in town Wednesday to promote his latest movie, “The Way Back,” and showed off some impressive bilingual skills.
The Oscar winner spent time in Mexico as a teen for work and obviously has good retention skills.
How proficient is he? Pretty awesome for a gringo, actually. Affleck conducted a few interviews entirely in Spanish and, bro, color us impressed.
At Univision studios, he appeared on “El Gordo y La Flaca,” discussing the character, an alcoholic basketball coach with marital problems and a team that can’t win.
“He makes a lot of mistakes, he’s not perfect, but no one is,” said the 47 year old showbiz vet. “It was very liberating, a form of therapy for me in this case, and some scenes were easy for me because I’m an alcoholic.”
“Soy alcohólico.”
Affleck even broached such intimate topics as his exes, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner, respectively.
Of ex wife Garner, he said he was very lucky to have such a great co-parent and that they work together well for their kids. As for JLo, he was also complimentary.
“I really like her, she’s a great woman,” he said of his former fiancee. “I’m glad she finally found someone who respects her, she deserves it. She seems really happy.”
Whether he got the invite to Lopez’s wedding to ARod, he gave a political response: “If I’m lucky!”
While chatting with UltraFiestaTV reporter Luis Jairala at SLAM! Charter School, Affleck broke into pretty damn near perfect Spanish yet again.
When asked what his favorite word was, the Massachusetts raised, California native laughed: “Sacapuntas!”
“It’s not what it sounds like,” he said. “It sounds like a dirty word, but it’s a pencil sharpener.”
Favorite food? That was a tough one.
“That’s a very difficult question because each country has something special,” said the single father of three.
Jairala recommended the Cuban food in Miami.
So if anyone spots Ben at, say, Cafe Versailles, say hi, we mean “Hola.”
