Downtown Miami is finally getting some decent fast food. But it’s closed on Sundays

You know it’s controversial, but you also know it’s good.

Fast food restaurant Chick-fil-A is coming to you, downtown Miami. Process this news how you like.

Commuters will benefit the most from this opening, as it’s smack dab in the middle of Virgin MiamiCentral, 550 NE First Avenue, on the first floor mezzanine level.

According to the Atlanta based company’s website, the date to welcome diners was set for Jan. 31.

There are five other locations in Dade County: Dadeland Mall, Doral, Flagler Park, FIU and Miami Lakes.

The Next Miami has pictures of the space being built.

Chick-fil-A fans have already found satisfaction from a cart that’s currently at the train terminal’s Central Fare food hall.

But this is a sit-down joint, reportedly around 2,000 square feet. More room for free sauces and excessively polite people asking to do stuff for you.

The menu will have the same faves as all the others: with grilled and fried chicken, salads and waffle fries.

We don’t know who needs to hear this, but this location will have no drive-thru window, folks.

And yes, it will be closed on Sunday, as is corporate policy, and has been since 1946 on orders from its founder.

“Having worked seven days a week in restaurants open 24 hours,” reads the website, “Truett saw the importance of closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose - a practice we uphold today.”
