‘Queen’: Demi Lovato just crushed the national anthem and her fans have her back
We’ll have what she’s having.
Demi Lovato is Super Bowl LIV’s comeback kid.
The former child star had a horrible go of it in 2018, and that is putting mildly. She almost died of a reported heroin overdose and spent months in rehab.
But it seems 2020 is her year.
Last Sunday, at the Grammys, Lovato re-emerged from a more than year long hiatus, belting out an emotional, tear streaked performance of “Anyone,” written just before her health crisis.
“I was pretty proud of the vocals,” Lovato humbly told Andy Cohen on his Sirius radio show at the Miami Beach Convention Center last week.
So, what made the 27 year old more nervous, singing the National Anthem in front of the entire Super Bowl crowd Sunday or her powerful ballad at the Grammys?
Ding, ding, ding! That would be a major sporting event.
“If I mess up, everyone goes after you,” said Lovato, who added that she wasn’t going to read the comments. “It’s just one of those things, there’s so much pressure.”
No need, she did awesome, and fans agree.
A sampling from Twitter:
“Demi Lovato’s performance at the #SuperBowl had me speechless. She’s been through so much and I’m so proud of her growth and where she is today.”
“Demi Lovato had so much trouble in her personal life and now she’s singing the National Anthem in the Super Bowl. True heroine.”
“Can we all take a moment and appreciate Demi Lovato’s talent because omg.”
“Demi Lovato went from relapsing and hitting rock bottom a year and a half ago to bouncing back and singing the national anthem at the super bowl. YOU B---HES COULD NEVER.”
“I know absolutely nothing about football or the teams playing in the #SuperBowl, but what I DO know is that @ddlovato is a queen and deserves all of the love and support in the world.”
