Jamie Foxx dancing merengue with fans at a Miami Super Bowl party is literally everything
Let’s just put this out there: Jamie Foxx is a national treasure.
The 52-year-old star isn’t just a triple threat: actor (actually Oscar winner), singer and comedian. Foxx is also great at parties, as we found out Saturday night.
What could have been a staid, yet elegant charity event turned into a wild, Instagram worthy blowout, thanks to him.
Foxx was the headliner at the annual Big Game Big Give function on Star Island, hosted by Michael Bay at a private $65 million mansion (not the director’s house), along with “Breaking Bad” stars Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston. The event raised funds for several local non-profits.
For the first hour or so guests mingled around the 17,000-square-foot mansion, peeking into the seven lavishly appointed bedrooms, lounging in the Havana-inspired cigar room and taking in the spectacular water view.
Then, suddenly around 8:30 p.m., there was a commotion by the pool.
Foxx was on a makeshift stage with soca artist Kevin Lyttle, holding a mic, grabbing drinks from the crowd, and you kinda knew things were about to get good. Actor Keegan-Michael Key appeared from out of nowhere and the two comics busted into an impromptu merengue routine.
Foxx then skedaddled, solo, down to the dance floor, telling his admirers to get closer because he “smelled good” (yes, amazing cologne), and was instantly swarmed.
“I want to break that barrier. There’s too much [dissension] right now,” Foxx said, possibly referring to the state of the nation. “You know what I’m saying? Let’s cut the tension!”
Foxx really loosened up. Off came his stuffy jacket and he began to boogie with his peeps.
“Atlanta’s in the building! Miami’s in the building! Who else in the building!?” Foxx asked to squeals of delight and “Push It” playing in the background. “Los Angeles is in the building!”
He urged the guests with all their phones out to put this crazy mob scene on social media.
“Somebody get this for the ‘Gram! Get it for the ‘Gram!’” he told his female admirers, some who were literally inches from the star’s face.
“I see some My Spaces out here! Y’all on My Space!” Foxx told some of the, um, older women, referring to the Instagram of yesteryear. Everyone laughed, including him.
“Jamie Foxx is amazing!” yelled a woman with gray hair as she swayed next to him. “My favorite of all time!”
We told you: a national treasure.
Can he run for office now?
