Who will perform with JLo and Shakira at the halftime show? We’re hearing rumors
We’re hearing things.
It looks as if Jennifer Lopez and Shakira won’t be doing their Super Bowl halftime show all on their own.
The music superstars are getting some able assists, according to the Internet and other sources.
Social media was abuzz on Friday with the news that J. Balvin and Bad Bunny would be popping up on stage with the ladies Sunday night during a break in the big game at Hard Rock Stadium.
We reached out to the organizers about the talent lineup at the Super Bowl LIV Pepsi Halftime Show, as it is officially known, but no word as of late Friday.
We do know that there is likely going to be a tribute to Kobe Bryant.
Coincidence? Bad Bunny just released a new song paying tribute to the late basketball legend who was killed in a horrific helicopter crash last weekend.
In “6 Rings,” the reggaeton artist samples Bryant’s unforgettable 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006.
“What can I say? Mamba out!” says Bryant tearfully in the track, which ends with cheers of “Kobe! Kobe!””
Bad Bunny has also collaborated with Lopez on “Te Guste.”
As for J Balvin, JLo has also worked with the entertainer before (“Us”), and so has fellow Colombian Shak on “Chantaje Gente.” So it wouldn’t be such a stretch to see them all out there together.
But these are all Spanish songs, so if the rumor about these guys joining the lineup is true, Super Bowl viewers will need to brush up their español.
We know for sure J Balvin is in town.
On his Instagram, he told followers that he is collaborating on a capsule collection with Japanese streetwear brand BAPE and will be at the Design District store at 137 NE 39th Street, Miami on Saturday. No time was specified.
BAPE says the first 100 people to buy something in J’s collection will get a wristband to be eligible for a meet and greet with him at a later point in the afternoon. The store opens at 9 a.m. Check @bape_us on Instagram for updates.
Another popup guest at the halftime show might be Mr. 305 himself, ET reports. Though Pitbull was pretty tight lipped he did say he’s “involved.”
“Am I in the halftime show? I’m involved in a lot of things that have to do with the Super Bowl,” said the Miami rapper. “I’ll leave it at that. I plead the fifth that this question might incriminate me.”
Miami.com also heard rumblings that Gloria Estefan might partake in the fun “in some fashion” during the Official Miami Super Bowl Host Committee VIP party at Bal Harbour Shops Thursday night.
While the singer would not comment on that matter, she was overheard saying on the red carpet that she is not rooting for either the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers.
“It would be nice if the Dolphins could get in there,” Estefans said with a laugh.
