Why is Lili Estefan getting a divorce? The Univision star finally breaks her silence

Lili Estefan is breaking her silence.

The Univision TV personality made headlines in September of 2017 when she tearfully announced that she was splitting from her husband, Cuban businessman Lorenzo Luaces, after 25 years of marriage (28 years together in total). Estefan never clarified the reason for the breakup, but she has apparently changed her tune.

In an interview on her show “El Gordo y La Flaca” to air at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Estefan sits down with Tanya Cherry. “A lot of people don’t know this,” she said in a sneak peek shared on Instagram. “Lorenzo was caught by a paparazzo with another woman.” Hmm, so cheating?

A scan of court records reveals that Estefan and Luaces’ divorce proceedings are heating up. While she did not have a lawyer before (at least in the system), the 51 year old Cuban native retained counsel earlier this month. Her lawyer is now Dori Foster Morales. Luaces has had a lawyer since he filed for divorce in April, Andrew Leinoff.

The two share one minor child. The most recent motion was filed by Luaces on Monday, an “Answer to Counter Petition.”

Interesting timing.
