If you’re a fan of 1 Hotels, Kimpton, The Four Seasons and Joie de Vivre hotels found here in Miami, you might want to check into one of their new sister properties opening in New York, New Orleans, Grand Cayman and other desirable destinations in the coming months.
Part of the Joie de Vivre Hotel group and sister property to The Hall in South Beach, The Troubadour is slated to open November 4 inside a 17-story historic building in New Orleans’ Central Business District. Helmed by longtime New Orleans chef Phillip Lopez (Root, Square Root, The Test Kitchen), the hotel’s signature restaurant is Petit Lion, while Monkey Board will be a lively rooftop bar.
Kimpton Hotels is making their first foray into international waters with their first resort concept, the Seafire Resort & Spa in Grand Cayman. With three Kimpton hotels in Miami: The Epic, The Angler’s and Surfcomber South Beach, the brand, best known for its one-of-a-kind boutique properties, will open this 266-room resort in November 2016 on Seven Mile Beach.
Another Joie de Vivre hotel is debuting, this one on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in Chinatown in January 2017. The hotel will boast three dining concepts by celebrity chef Dale Talde, whose eponymous Talde is situated at Miami Beach’s The Confidante (formerly The Thompson), as well as a permanent exhibit curated by the Museum of Chinese in America, providing historical perspective to the neighborhood.
The 1 Hotel brand debuted in South Beach in 2015 with its eco-chic, oceanfront concept on Collins Avenue and soon after opened a sister property in Manhattan one block from Central Park South. Slated for February 2017, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge will open its doors on the East River inside a 10-story, ground-up development with a restaurant by Seamus Mullins and a rooftop pool and bar.
In the last year, Viceroy Hotels experienced some churn with their Brickell property changing hands to a W and their Anguilla property taken over by Four Seasons. The idyllic Anguilla property teeters on a cliff between Meads and Barnes Bay on one of the most picturesque and luxurious islands in the Caribbean.
With its original location on Hollywood & Vine in LA, The Redbury, with its rock ‘n roll vibe, opened on South Beach in 2013 to join its sister sbe property SLS. A third property recently opened in Manhattan’s Flat Iron District inside the former Martha Washington Hotel. Good news: Danny Meyer’s superlative pizza joint Marta is still there.
