Where To Stay

Atton, a Brickell hotel where business travelers can unwind

Looming 12 stories above Brickell’s Simpson Park nature preserve, the newly opened Atton Brickell hotel (1500 SW 1st Ave., Brickell; 786-600-2600)  offers business travelers a plush perch just a hair removed from the hustle and bustle (aka traffic jams) of Brickell Avenue.

The hotel, which held its grand opening party in December 2016, marks the U.S. debut of Chilean hotel group Atton, which currently has a portfolio of 10 hotels in South America, including Peru and Colombia.

With 4,000-square-feet of flexible meeting space at both the lobby level and twelfth floor penthouse, it’s an attractive destination for both conference-goers and independent business travelers.

The modern, spacious lobby features floor-to-ceiling windows, high ceilings and geometric patterns in its blue area rugs, pale pink lounge chairs and natural wood accent walls. The open concept lobby flows through to Uva bar, with multiple television screens, and Lima restaurant, serving Peruvian fare and standard hotel restaurant dishes like fettuccini al fredo and Caesar salads by chef Kyriacos Petrou, formerly of Shula’s Steakhouse at Miami Beach’s Alexander Hotel.

The hotel also features a rooftop pool and Vista bar, serving tapas and pisco sours, with panoramic views of the Brickell skyline and Biscayne Bay. There’s also a fitness center.

The hotel’s 275 rooms echo the lobby’s design with wood accent walls for bed frames, navy carpeting, contemporary furniture and modern bathrooms. Each features original photographyby Alain A. Perozo of Simpson Park, whose lush canopies are on view through floor-to-ceiling windows of many guest rooms.

For business and leisure travelers drawn to Brickell, the biggest boon of Atton is its ability to feel relaxed and expansive in a neighborhood whose energy is frenetic and fast-paced. Its location places the hotel at a comfortable, yet accessible, distance from Brickell Avenue with easy access to the Metromover.

Atton is less for scenesters than other new hotel additions to the neighborhood, like SLS Brickell and EAST, Miami, and more for those who desire a reprise from the scene.

Current rates from $195 per night.
