Be the first in the world to welcome the New Year 2015 at New Zealand’s Rhythm and Vines music festival in Gisborne, which lays claim to being the first city in the world to see the sun rise each morning. RNV 2015 opens Dec. 29 and runs into the new year with performances from Bastille, Netsky Live, Chet Faker, Danny Brown, MØ and more. Accommodations are mostly rustic — camping on the beach or in the Waiohika Estate Vinyard’s tepee village. Located on the eastern shore of the North Island, Gisborne is known as the unofficial “Chardonnay Capital of New Zealand.”
