Is your cruise or flight affected by Tropical Storm Imelda? See what’s changing

As Tropical Storm Imelda goes over the Bahamas, cruise itineraries and some flights from Miami are changing.

On Monday, the Bahamas got soaked from Imelda’s rains, and the dousing is expected to continue through Tuesday as the storm moves north.

Here is a look at what’s happening:

Carnival

As of 10 a..m. Monday, Doral-based cruise giant Carnival said the comapny has made the following changes to itineraries:

Carnival Venezia: To keep its scheduled return to New York on Oct. 1, the ship has canceled a visit to Grand Turk on Sept. 28 and instead extended a visit to San Juan on Sept. 27 by two hours

Carnival Sunrise: The ship visited Half Moon Cay on Sept. 26 rather than Sept. 27. Due to a ports shutdown, the scheduled visit to Celebration Key on Sept. 28 was canceled and guests instead had a day at sea. The ship returned to Miami on Sept. 29, as scheduled.

Carnival Glory: Due to a port closing, the scheduled visit to Celebration Key on Sept. 28 was canceled and guests instead had a day at sea. The ship retuned to Port Canaveral on Sept. 29, as scheduled.

Carnival Sunshine: The ship departed Norfolk on Sept. 28 with a revised itinerary. Guests now have an overnight visit to Saint John, NB on Sept. 30 into Oct. 1. This replaces visits to three Bahamian destinations. The ship is still expected to return to Norfolk on Oct. 4 as scheduled.

Carnival Pride: The ship departed from Baltimore Sept. 28 with a revised itinerary. Guests will now visit Portland, Maine, on Oct. 1 and St. John, on Oct. 2. This replaces visits to three Bahamian destinations. The ship is still expected to return to Baltimore on Oct. 5, as scheduled.

Carnival Freedom: The scheduled visits to Princess Cays and Nassau have been swapped. Guests will now visit Nassau on Sept. 29 and Princess Cays on Sept. 30. The rest of the itinerary remains the same, including the scheduled return to Port Canaveral on Oct. 2.

Carnival Magic: The scheduled visit to Half Moon Cay on Sept. 29, has been changed to Oct. 5. The ship is expected to return to Miami on Oct. 6, as scheduled.

Carnival Vista: The scheduled visit to Half Moon Cay on Sept. 30 has been replaced with a visit to Grand Turk. The visit to Amber Cove has been changed to Oct. 1 and the visit to Celebration Key has been changed to Oct. 3. The ship is expected to return to Port Canaveral on Oct. 4, as scheduled.

Royal Caribbean

As of Monday morning, the Miami-based cruise line has made the following changes.

Enchantment of the Seas: It will sail to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico, instead of visiting Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Liberty of the Seas: It will sail to St. John, Canada, instead of Bermuda for an overnight stay.

Grandeur of the Seas: It will skip its visits to Bimini, Nassau, and Grand Bahama Island, and visit Yucatán (Progreso), Costa Maya, and Cozumel instead.

Star of the Seas: It will sail to the Western Caribbean instead of the Eastern Caribbean and visit Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Roatan, Honduras.

Harmony of the Seas: It will skip its calls to Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau, and go to Costa Maya, Mexico and Roatan, Honduras instead. The ship will call at Cozumel, Mexico as originally planned.

Symphony of the Seas: It will sail to Sydney and Halifax, Nova Scotia, instead of visiting Orlando-Port Canaveral, Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Norwegian Cruise Line

On Monday, Norwegian Cruise Line said “due to the projected paths of Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Humberto in the Atlantic, the itineraries for Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Escape have been modified.”

Aqua: It departed New York City on Sept. 27. It will no longer call to Bermuda, but instead visit Portland, Maine; Boston; and St. John, New Brunswick.

Escape: The ship’s Sept. 29 sailing will no longer cruise to the Caribbean. Instead it will call to Boston; Portland and Eastport, Maine; and is scheduled to call to Bermuda next week.

The company said it’ll “continue to monitor the storms to ensure there are no impacts to the modified itineraries.”

MSC Cruises

As of Monday morning, MSC announced the following changes.

MSC Meraviglia: The carrier adjusted the ship’s itinerary, replacing the call to Port Canaveral on Sept. 30 with a day at sea and the call to Nassau on Oct. 1 with Port Canaveral.

Miami International Airport

At MIA, Bahamasair had its first arrival and departure Monday delayed due to “storm-related issue at Nassau airport,” said Greg Chin, communication director of Miami-Date Aviation Department.

American Airlines also had a departure from Nassau to MIA delayed.

On Sunday, MIA saw 85% of arrivals and departures on time, above average.
