What does it feel like to ride in a Waymo driverless car? Watch this Florida couple
A Waymo pulled up to the curb and waited for the customers to climb inside.
Melody and Greg Harmon, visiting San Francisco from Florida, were eager to try the driverless ride-share service on their sightseeing trip to the West Coast earlier this year.
At first, they were a little taken aback by the disembodied voice in the car and the instructions on the screen. But once the vehicle got going, they settled in for the ride.

“Ready?” “Yup” “Oh, my God.”
They listen to the instructions like buckling up and to “relax.”
Nervous laughter.
Then the car voice breaks the ice: “Sing your heart out. We can’t hear you.”
After a few turns and starts and stops on the city streets, a quick conclusion: “This is better driving than some people I’ve been in the car with.”
In 2025, Waymo is coming to Miami amid safety questions and an ongoing federal investigation into collisions. So, you’ll soon have a chance to try it yourself in the 305.
