Tired of complaining about airports? FLL can put you to work. How to see job openings
Many of us love to complain about the airports in South Florida. But have you considered working at one and perhaps “be the change you want to see in the world,” as the famous saying goes?
Or maybe you’re simply looking for a job to pay the bills?
Companies doing business at growing Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are looking to fill more than 300 full-time and part-time job openings, and they’ll be at a job fair to recruit. It’s open to the public and it’s free.
Who’s offering jobs at the airport?
More than 20 employers will be on site to recruit, including FedEx Express, HMS Host, Delaware North, Quantem Aviation Services, CLEAR and Swissport USA. Delaware North is a hospitality business and HMS Host is a food service company.
Other employers hiring: Broward County Aviation Department, Sunshine Cleaning Systems, 3Sixty Duty Free & More, FEAM Aero, Hudson/AMS South Florida, Paradies Lagardere and Keolis Transit America.
Companies are hiring in airline services, aircraft maintenance, restaurants, retail, ground transportation and federal governmental agencies — front line jobs to senior staff positions.
FLL’s third annual job fair will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Broward County Aviation Department, which runs the airport, is leading the event, along with various companies.
A growing airport in Broward County
“It’s important to keep the pipeline of talent flowing into FLL to meet the evolving needs of travelers and the growing aviation sector,” Mark Gale, CEO/Director of Aviation for the Broward County Aviation Department, said in a statement.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is one of Broward County’s top economic engines and the 17th busiest airport in the U.S. for passenger traffic, he noted. And it’s growing. FLL served 35.1 million passengers in 2023, up 10.8% from almost 32 million in 2022. A fifth terminal at a cost of $404 million is being built.
With year-end peak holiday travel soon approaching — from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day — the airport and its employers are eager to quickly fill positions.
“This job fair will not only help airport businesses to fill immediate vacancies,” Gale said, “but also establish connections between these employers and future workers.”
