Swiftie Air? More flights added for fans heading to Taylor Swift’s Miami tour dates
It’s getting a little easier to see Taylor Swift.
Southwest Airlines is adding more than 10 flights to “to help Swifties get to and from her concerts,” the carrier said this week.
“Look at what you made us do!” the company jokingly exclaimed, while saying it was welcoming the pop star back to the United States.
Swift performs Oct. 18-20 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Those October shows open the last leg of Swift’s record-setting, 152-date Eras Tour, and are expected to draw large crowds.
The additional flights are due to “strong demand from last year’s tour,” the carrier said in a July 11 statement sent to the Miami Herald. Southwest said it saw a greater than 10% increase in bookings in most markets that hosted Taylor Swift concerts last year.

Taylor Swift flight details
Four of the new flights will help shuttle fans to and from South Florida.
On Oct. 17:
- Flight 22 from Baltimore/Washington to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International
- Flight 1989 from Nashville to Miami
On Oct. 20:
- Flight 1313 from Miami to Nashville
- Flight 1213 from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International to Baltimore/Washington
The following weekend, Swift has shows in New Orleans, and Southwest has added flights for those concerts as well. The additional flights are scheduled to use Southwest’s largest planes, which seat up to 175 passengers.
Asked whether guests can expect any special treats on the flights, the carrier only said: “More to come but our employees are known to have fun with customers traveling to and from big events.”
It did note that “bracelets fly free.”
Flights can be booked at Southwest’s website.
At Miami International Airport, Southwest runs 10 to 12 flight a day. FLL has up to 35 flights per day on Southwest.
Big events
The Swift concerts aren’t the only occasion Southwest adds flights.
The carrier has a team that looks for travel trends, popular events, and moments where travel demand is surging. It has added flights for the Super Bowl, rodeos, the F1 race in Austin, the Austin City Limits music festival and Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
Still, the economic benefit from the Swift shows is notable. Research firm QuestionPro found that last year’s stretch of The Eras Tour generated at least $5 billion in economic impact. Concertgoers spent about $1,300 per show and 91% said they’d go again.

Meanwhile, if you are not a Swiftie but do enjoy flying Southwest, the carrier may have something else for you.
