Legoland Florida Resort set to reopen in June. Masks must be worn, cash won’t be allowed.

Legoland Florida Resort will be joining Universal Orlando in a June reopening after closing over two months ago.

On Friday, Legoland announced it would be opening its Florida park on June 1. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Winter Haven Mayor Bradley Dantzler and the Polk County Commission approved the park’s reopening date and new safety guidelines.

Legoland closed its parks on March 16 due the novel coronavirus growing in cases at the time.

“We’re ready to play, and we look forward to reopening LEGOLAND Florida Resort as a safe and memorable place for families to play again,” said General Manager of Legoland Florida Resort Rex Jackson.

Guests can expect many changes at the parks. The park will only be open at 50 percent capacity, have spaced parking and guests will undergo temperature checks. Every guest must wear a face mask and will be provided with a free one.

No cash will be accepted at the park, only credit cards and debit cards.

There will also be signage and markers will help guests social distance.

On Friday, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings approved Universal Orlando’s reopening phased strategy, clearing the way for Gov. Ron DeSantis to make it official.

DeSantis, who Universal said supports their proposal, still needs to formally sign off for it to become the first of Orlando’s three major theme parks to reopen.
