The South Beach-inspired Delano Las Vegas has opened on the campus of Mandalay Bay. Previously known as THEhotel, the 1,100-room, all-suite hotel underwent an $80 million makeover. New touches include airy, white furnishings in the bedrooms and desert design elements in the public spaces instead of the dark marble of the past. The original Delano is believed to be named after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The brand is especially popular with customers from Latin America, Europe and the East Coast — regions MGM (owner of Mandalay) is eyeing for growth because those patrons stay longer and spend more than travelers closer to home.
