Publix just rolled out a new spring ice cream lineup. See the flavors and award winners
Publix released its spring line of eight limited-edition ice cream flavors in early March and some are returning champs in an industry competition.
This grouping of half-gallon size cartons, “inspired by classic desserts,” said spokeswoman Lindsey Willis, doesn’t have an end date. They last until supplies run out.
The Lakeland-based chain issues specialty flavors three times a year, including a summer run in June and a holiday batch in September.

Award winners
The Washington-based International Dairy Foods Association hosts an Ice Cream & Cultural Innovation Conference and there’s one coming to Fort Lauderdale on April 1-2 where ice cream and frozen dessert professionals gather to discuss innovations, trends and host awards.
Some of these returning Publix limited offerings have won awards at the conferences:
▪ Irish Crème Salted Caramel received recognition in the Most Innovative Flavor category in 2019. Kemps, a Minnesota dairy company, won first that year with its Scotcheroo flavor.
▪ Black Swamp Raspberry Cheesecake placed third overall in 2015. Perry’s Ice Cream of New York won for its German Chocolate Cake.
▪ Cinnamon Streusel Praline won Most Innovative Flavor in 2007. Back then it was called Sticky Bun.
Florida International University submitted a Coconut and Milk Fruit Bar that scored the top award in the Innovation category in 2016 from the International Dairy Foods Association.
