Another group working to supply farmers market customers, new and old, is Urban Oasis Project, which has been scheduling delivery of field produce in season and other vendors’ products.

“At Urban Oasis Project we have gone 100 percent preorder in response to keeping everyone safer, and well fed throughout this time period,” said Art Friedrich, founder of Urban Oasis Project.

“You can now pick up from us on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Or if you prefer to have your fresh fruits and vegetables delivered, wherever you are — Kendall, Hialeah, North and South Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, and everywhere in between, just let us know.”

The web store is open for ordering 9 a.m. Wednesdays until 9 p.m. Thursdays to place orders for Saturday through Monday. The store reopens on Fridays until 9 p.m. Sundays for additional Monday orders.

The mission is the belief “that good, clean, healthy food should be accessible to all so we run Farmers Markets, we plant gardens with low-income families, and we support many local farms by bringing their produce to markets.”

According to its website, Urban Oasis Project accepts SNAP benefits and doubles their value for Florida-grown fruits and veggies. And Urban Oasis Project has a program for feeding needy families, funded through the public’s generous donations.

“We are so happy to be serving our community, connecting our community with local food — grass-fed beef and pork, plant-based tamales, cleaned jackfruit, broccoli, Florida sweet onions, hydroponic greens, soap, kale, collards, zucchini, cookies, cake, bread, kombucha, yellow squash, tomatoes, mamey, papaya, fresh free-range eggs, Jamaican patties, hummus, spreads, grape leaves, and so much more — and encouraging everyone to eat some good food, cook up a storm, and support those we can around us,” Friedrich said.
