The recalled oatmeal might have undeclared ingredients. That can be a serious problem

A mistake led to a food allergy recall of 24,923 boxes of Optavia Essential Old Fashioned Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal.

A customer contacted distributor Medifast that some of the packets contain traces of milk. That’s an allergen that’s not declared on the package. No problem for most people, major problem for those with a milk allergy or feeding someone with a milk allergy.

“People who have an allergy to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice said.
