Salmon sold in 10 states and Washington, D.C., recalled after listeria found
CATSMO recalled 12 lots of its Cold Smoked Salmon that’s sold in Washington, D.C. and 10 states, including Florida, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The salmon might have listeria.
“The potential for contamination is a result of a routine FDA environmental sampling and analysis,” the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice states.
Among the varieties pulled: Nova; Gold; Scottish; Loin; Pastrami; Organic; Bourbon Pepper; Red Beet; Gravelox; Irish; and First Course.
They come in 4-ounce, 8-ounce and 1-pound packages. The expiration dates range from 12/11/2019 to 12/16/2019. For a complete list of the salmon recalled, click here. CATSMO said the Daniel Boulud varieties, though listed, were not actually produced.

Listeria strikes about 1,600 Americans annually, killing about 250, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The elderly, children under 5 and people with damaged immune systems are in the greatest danger of getting the worst effects. It can cause stillbirths and miscarriages in pregnant women. Most people get fever, headaches, nausea, stomachaches and diarrhea.
