What is this fixation with Nutella?
Mon dieu!
It was like a scene out of Black Friday — with French accents.
Shoppers were freaking the freaking out Thursday at a number of branches of the French supermarket chain Intermarché, which discounted Nutella by 70 percent.
The promotion for the hazelnut chocolate spread started Thursday — slashing the price of a 33-ounce jar from 4.70 euros ($5.85) to 1.41 euros ($1.75).
Safe to say, Intermarché is sold out.

“It was a real disaster, 200 people were outside waiting for the supermarket’s opening,” an employee at a store in Metz, northeast France, told CNN. “All of this mess for a Nutella jar.”
Things got so chaotic in one store in Ostricourt, in the north of France, that the police were called.
Some people on social media managed to find the chocoholic situation comical.

The #NutellaRiots are the Frenchest thing I've ever heard of. The second-Frenchest thing is this quote: "People just rushed in, shoving everyone, breaking things. It was like an orgy."https://t.co/ecOwGa9hNi

We have to wonder what will happen on Feb. 5, World Nutella Day, when the world comes together to share recipes, photos and messages about the beloved topping.
