Those aren’t cookies in the cookie package — so they’ve been recalled in 44 states
Dollar General recalled iced oatmeal cookies in 44 states Tuesday after learning of a packaging mistake that threatens both people with milk allergies and tree nut allergies.
The company that makes Clover Valley Iced Oatmeal Cookies for Dollar General mistakenly put coconut macaroons in the packaging for the cookies. The macaroons contain milk and tree nut allergens that aren’t in the cookies, and aren’t listed among the ingredients for the cookies. What’s an annoying mistake to most consumers can be a deadly one for people with serious milk or nut allergies.
The recall covers a single lot of the 12-ounce packs of Clover Valley Iced Oatmeal Cookies, Lot No. L46217 30. But that single lot was distributed to stores in Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
The packs have a Best By date of Aug. 18, 2018.
