Inspectors spy roaches, rodents in several South Florida restaurants

The Good

3030 Ocean, 3030 Holiday Dr., Fort Lauderdale. Inspected on April 10; zero violations.

The Bad

Horizon Diner II, 401 S. SR 7, Plantation. Inspected on April 15; 25 violations, including four high-priority. Inspector’s notes: “Ten-plus live roaches found in groove of can opener, by ice machine, two crawling on prep table, one crawling on wall in men’s room, one crawling in ware washing area. Seven-plus fresh rodent droppings found on a shelf in dry-storage area.” Issued an emergency order to close; did not pass a follow-up inspection on April 16 but reopened after a second follow-up on April 16.

The Ugly

Moon Thai & Japanese, 2818 Weston Rd., Weston. Inspected on April 15; 19 violations, including four high-priority. Inspector’s notes: “Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found: approximately 20 crawling on the wall around electrical outlets and behind a broken wall tile in food prep area, approximately 10 crawling on the wall and on the floor in dishwashing area.” Issued an emergency order to close; reopened on April 16 after a satisfactory follow-up inspection.
