Why he’s in the Food 50: Peter Schnebly is reshaping his Homestead farm, winery and craft brewery into a South Florida destination. Valentine’s Day marked the debut of chef Dewey LoSasso as the property’s new culinary director, serving locally sourced surf-and-turf dinners on the farm. Longtime friends, LoSasso and Schnebly have embarked on an ambitious journey that includes opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant at the farm (LoSasso currently cooks out of a food truck), a retail market, cooking classes and a boutique bed-and-breakfast. From tropical-fruit wines to hoppy ales and now food, Schnebly is making a lasting mark on South Florida’s culinary scene.
