Todd Erickson, Executive chef of Haven and Huahua’s Taqueria
Why he’s in the Food 50: Todd Erickson is one of the hardest-working chefs in Miami. He runs the kitchens of two South Beach hotspots and recently has been shuttling to Fort Myers to help open a Haven there. He’s a constant presence at charity cooking events (you’ll find him pretty much everywhere at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival) and on social and traditional media. Erickson’s smiling face recently appeared on buses and Deco Bikes to promote a city recycling campaign.
He’s also hugely supportive of South Florida’s chef community, cheering on his peers when they’re on reality cooking shows, attending the semiregular Chefs Club gatherings, and sending positive tweets about his visits to other restaurants. Erickson plays such a visible role in the Miami food scene, it’s hard to believe he has been here only five years.
