If you’ve been wondering what it’s like to drive the new Tesla Model 3 sedan, you’re in luck: The more-affordable model of the popular electric car is now available for test drives at South Florida locations including Coral Gables, Dadeland, Aventura and Dania Beach.
Note that while the Model 3 is more affordable than the Model S (starting price $75,000-plus) and Model X ($80,000 plus), the Model 3 starting price of $35,000 isn’t exactly in the budget category. That didn’t stop 450,000 people from reserving a place in line during the car’s pre-sales period.
Despite concerns about the company’s ability to produce the cars rapidly enough in such high numbers, Tesla says it expects to ramp production from its current 5,000 per week to 6,000 per week in August and is offering two- to four-month delivery windows on new orders. The company claims it has resolved most problems with some of the earliest Model 3s delivered.
